From booking GP appointments to applying for jobs and helping children complete homework, being online is now essential to everyday life. But for many households across the UK, the cost and accessibility of reliable broadband remain a significant barrier. That’s where innovative partnerships, like the one between Opus Broadband and Bolton at Home, are making a difference.

More Than Just a Landlord

Bolton at Home is no ordinary housing provider. With a strong focus on community resilience and wellbeing, they work tirelessly to support tenants beyond the basics of housing. From financial aid and mental health support to youth programmes and employment services, they deliver and fund initiatives that help people not just live—but thrive. The installation was seamless. “They came out with ladders, got up on the roof, did the survey, and got us set up with a router inside the main hub,” said Sarah, a Community Engagement Officer. Now, the hub isn’t just a workspace—it’s a hot desk and digital access point for community members, groups, and local organisations who use the space.

A Real Difference in the Community

The impact has been immediate. “We really do feel that having Opus Broadband has made a real difference in the community,” Sarah explained. “As everything is digital these days, it’s really
hard—banking, GP appointments, homework. Sometimes broadband doesn’t get put down as a priority, but I think it is. It should be a human right, really.” And local residents agree. Stuart, who lives in nearby Balmoral, is just one of many who’ve praised the new service. “We’ve had no complaints at all,” Sarah added. “People are genuinely pleased, and it’s clear that families here will really benefit.”

Reducing Digital Poverty, One Connection at a Time

The partnership between Opus Broadband and Bolton at Home isn’t just about providing internet—it’s about empowering communities.
